The Toilet Paper Challenge from Sheryl "Smelly Butt" Crow
It was an interesting experiment- attempting to use only one square of toilet paper per bathroom visit as suggested by singer Sheryl Crow. Did she mean one little square or one square foot? I think the latter perhaps.
Well, I tried and tried but no luck. What I discovered was that all the extra soap and water I was using to clean my hands afterwards was negating the whole "save the planet from global warming" theme Sheryl was trying to achieve.
Sorry girl, it just didn't work out too well. Maybe you should go back to the tour bus and think up some more useless stuff or how 'bout this idea- Stick to playing the guitar and making records..........

Get the Words Right Gooberhead! (RANT)
Boy am I pissed! I work and attend a lot of sporting events and I've heard a whole lot of renditions of our National Anthem. Some are exceptional, most are average, and a growing number are just down right awful. No doubt the song has the reputation for being difficult to sing but when I'm standing there with my hand over my heart (the proper way mind you) I at least want to hear the right lyrics. When I do hear a singer butcher the lyrics I get mad.........Snot blowing, pissed off mad!
I was at the Charlotte Bobcats Basketball game on Tuesday April 10, 2007 (they played the Miami Heat) and heard another pitiful singer try to get the words right. Bad thing was the singer probably thought he was doing okay.
How did he screw up? Well, instead of singing "through the perilous fight" he sang "through the perilous flight"! ARRRRGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
So as a public service here's the entire Star-Spangled Banner lyrics. Be thankful the professional and amateur singers alike only have to sing the first stanza!
The "Full" Star-Spangled Banner Lyrics
O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen thro’ the mist of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream
’Tis the star-spangled banner. Oh! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Officers Clark and Shelton Two Of CMPD's Finest
The officers responded to a disturbance call at 10:26 PM at the Timber Ridge Apartments near Milton Road. The officers were both shot around 11:15 while struggling with a suspect in that parking lot.
Officer Sean Clark, 34, was hired January 23, 2006 as part of the 148th Recruit Class. He was a 1991 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School. Officer Jeffrey Shelton, 35, was hired February 28, 2001 and graduated with the 136th Recruit Class.
Officers close to Jeff Shelton, like Detective Steve Ladd, remember him as an honorable guy who was quick with a joke or smile. A fit former Marine who could run faster than most, Officer Gabe Chickoree says Officer Shelton was "intense" and "full of energy", a guy who had "no slow nights" because he always wanted to work, to be a police officer. Shelton had served in the Air Force before joining the CMPD.
Officer A.E. Hall, a classmate of Officer Clark's from Recruit Class #148, calls him a "quiet warrior", a "natural leader" who always had a good word to say, even on a tough day. "I will remember him smiling," said Officer W.C. Flowers. "He waited such a long time to be an officer, he wanted it so bad and he was so proud. He was always studying." "I was one of the slowest runners in the class," said Officer F. Delano. "Sean would put his hand on my back, push me along and encourage me."
Please keep the officers, their families and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced as soon as plans are finalized.
The men and women of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are grateful for the outpouring of condolences from members of the community. People who would like to share thoughts and prayers with the families of the two officers can log on to http://cyausa.com/. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Police Benevolent Fund in c/o Greg Crystal or the FOP Foundation in c/o Sgt. Randy Hagler. Both can be mailed to:

I'm Numb and There's Spittle Dripping Out My Mouth!
Not to worry, this will only take a minute......... Just got back from the dentists office and man am I numb! Now I've been hit with novacaine before but never like this. Curiously, I can't feel the whole left side of my head- COOL! Picture an old man with spittle that keeps running out the side of his mouth and you'll have a visual of how I look and feel right now. SCARY!
Went in to get a crown and the dentist ended up finding two more problems- old fillings that have started to crack the surrounding enamel. That's not good.
So for today we worked to get the left side of my face back together. I'll return in a month to fix the other side. Joy! I'm very fortunate to have a good dentist in spite of the fact that I hate the whole experience.
Later,
Marc
